In the midst of so much racial tension in the country right now, it’s always nice to see some good news involving people of color and much-needed diversity. Online giant eBay just announced that they have hired the first-ever Chief Diversity Officer for the company and the lucky recipient of the job is a Morehouse alumnus.
As reported by HBCU Lifestyle, Damien Hooper-Campbell has been hired by eBay for a position that is a first of its kind for the company. Hooper-Campbell is from the Morehouse College graduating class of 2002 and brings to the job a wealth of experience. After graduating from Morehouse with a B.A. in economics, he also received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
eBay’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer Kristin Yetto had this to say about Hooper-Campbell’s new role with the company:
“Since our founding, the power of inclusion, diversity and opportunity has been a central part of eBay’s cultural values, our purpose and business success,” said Devin Wenig, president and CEO of eBay, Inc. “Damien’s experience, insights and leadership will enable us to build further on the strong foundation we have established over many years and advance eBay’s Diversity and Inclusion commitment to a new level.”
