Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark will be kicking off a very special event Wednesday afternoon.
Today, Clark, along with David Arnot, Chief Commissioner of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission will meet in council chambers to launch Cultural Diversity and Race Relations Month.
The City of Saskatoon has celebrated the month every year since 1990. The United Nations declared March 21st as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in commemoration of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre in South Africa when peaceful demonstrators against apartheid were wounded and killed.
Representatives of the Central Urban Metis Federation Inc. and the Islamic Association of Saskatchewan will also be in attendance.
