Leaders are missing a sense of urgency—in fact, most Americans are. It has nothing to do with performance at work or passion for the job. No, most companies in the U.S. are missing a sense of urgency when it comes to gender diversity.
I know, it’s a hard topic to discuss. No one wants to actively admit that their company is not doing well in hiring and retaining women, minority, or differently-abled employees. Many people don’t want to talk about it simply because they don’t believe that there is a gender diversity problem.
But there is. Every day, around 10,000 baby boomers retire and leave the workforce. There are hundreds of thousands of jobs available in cybersecurity that aren’t being filled. Companies have to start approaching different hiring streams in order to combat the growing skills gap in almost every STEM industry.
