As the co-founder of Fairygodboss, I probably consume more content about the impact of bias and discrimination on a person’s career than the average person. So while much of my company’s work is focused on bringing more transparency to the experiences women have in the workplace — and the huge role that employers play — I’m very aware that race also plays a significant role in a person’s job.
HP recently released a video that caught my eye because it drove home exactly the cost of someone’s race when it comes to getting hired. In this video, HP tells us that “when qualified for a job, African-Americans are 3 times more likely to experience a denial.”
